Essential Tree Surgery Services
As experienced tree surgery experts, one of the top questions we are asked is whether a tree needs a particular treatment. We have a specific approach that we use to decide what work a tree needs and how the problems should be handled.
Take crown reduction and reshaping for example – this is where the tree is out of shape and needs to have branches removed to get it back into shape and ensure it is strong. We will look to do this if the tree is too large for its position, but you don’t want to remove the tree entirely. It is also used when the stability of the tree is a worry or there are ground problems that mean it might not be in the strongest position. Reduction and reshaping are also used to move tree branches away from buildings or other features like street lights without removing the tree entirely.
However, there are situations when this procedure isn’t the right option. Some species don’t react well to reductions – conifers are a classic example of this unless they are in a hedge. If you use crown reduction, they often end up looking a mess. Maple trees will try to vigorously regrow the removed branches and then become too dense. Occasionally, the problem is the tree is entirely in the wrong position and then the only option is to remove it and consider a different type of tree in the spot.
